Repository Information:
The mission of the Center is to encourage and promote interdisciplinary research and curriculum development relating to women. The role of the Vorhoff Library and Newcomb Archives in accomplishing this mission is to collect, preserve, and make available research materials in women's studies, particularly those that relate to Southern women, to women's education, to the history of women at Newcomb College and Tulane University, and to culinary history. The Vorhoff Library maintains an extensive vertical file section on women's issues, a large collection of unpublished conference proceeding papers, a collection of biographical information on New Orleans women, and some 3000 books devoted exclusively to women's studies.

The Newcomb Archives maintains the records of Newcomb College, the records of women's organizations, and manuscript collections of alumnae and other Southern women.

Collection highlights: Includes the Newcomb College archives, sources for research on the Louisiana Women's Movement, and an important scrapbook collection.

Finding aids: Available in the repository and, in some cases, on the repository's web site.

Publications:
The archives maintain a growing number of online exhibits. Topics covered include Louisiana Women's Movement, the `Newcomb Arcade', Newcomb pottery, Newcomb Relief Unit, and Valentines. A forthcoming exhibit will focus on rituals involving women.

Facilities: Photocopying and scanning; some power sockets for laptops.
