13. Denton, Pat

The scope of the collection is women's issues during the period 1972-1986. Pat Denton's collection consists of her notes, correspondence, and newspaper clippings of the following issues and organizations: the ERA movement, the National Women's Political Caucus, the Louisiana Women's Political Caucus, the National Organization for Women, and many feminist newspapers. The projects supervised by Denton are also documented: the ERA "New Day and Jazz Funeral Celebration" and New Orleans Women in Cable's video production of Feminist! Are you One?, most of which have been transcribed by Pat Denton.


14. Durbin, Maurice

This collection consists of personal letters, newspaper clippings, cartoons and editorials, magazine articles, and specifically formatted and simplified pieces of legislature that directly related to the politics and/or issues of the time. The issues presented and preserved in the collection range from the Equal Rights Amendment to abortion to childcare and child support to domestic abuse to rape and to women's equality within the 1980s and early 1990s. All of the issues were of key importance to Durbin and the Louisiana Women's Network, for which Durbin worked as the first paid lobbyist in the State Legislature.


15. Elder, Katherine Lucinda Wilson

The collection of Katharine Lucinda Wilson Elder includes two boxes of lace, some of which was handmade by Elder, designs for embroidery and clothing, patterns, sketches, a rug, a doll, and a piece of china hand painted by Elder while a Newcomb student. Elder's scrapbook details her life as a Newcomb student in domestic science, with snapshots of friends frolicking on the beach and on campus and at a May Day celebration. It also contains invitations, letters, comments on dormitory rules, as well as lists of costs and amount of time that she and other students spent on projects.


16. Ellis, Cynthia

The Cynthia Ellis Collection spans the years 1988-1992 and concerns her research on Belizean women. The collection includes photocopied articles, theses, bibliographies, and files of the Belize Rural Women's Association (BRWA). The collection includes several photographs of Belizean women and their handicrafts, as well as working chapters of her thesis on handicrafts as an income-generating activity. Also included are materials from Ellis's time as a fellow at Newcomb College Center for Research on Women and materials from her Oral History Projects.

20. Gehman, Mary Elizabeth

Although Mary Elizabeth Gehman's original intent was to collect information published about women during the UN Decade for Women, she expanded her project to include material from both earlier and later periods. The collection spans the years 1970-1991 and addresses both national and international issues. Noteworthy components of the collection include a complete collection of Distaff, the first and only women's newspaper published in New Orleans; government documents, including publications from the national Advisory Council on Women's Educational Programs and the Citizen's Advisory council on the Status of Women; a large collection of Times Picayune and Village Voice articles; almost complete collections of the Atalanta, Communiqu'elles, and Generations journals; and a wealth of material from organizations in which Gehman was actively involved, such as the National Organization for Women, the National Abortion Rights Action League, and Planned Parenthood.


21. Goertz, Arthemise

This collection spans the life of Arthemise Goertz. The bulk of the material describes her experiences as a civilian internee in Japan from 1941-1943, but much of the material also concerns her work as a writer of novels and travel literature.
