Brief Description:

This collection consists of the papers of Pierre Antoine Lambert (d. 1827) and of his son, Pierre Alexandre Lambert (1806-1895).  Included are diplomas, medical certificates, a thesis, a slave agreement, correspondence, photographs, clippings, account books and other financial records, patient ledgers and prescriptions, baptismal records, contracts, passports, legal opinions, scientific and mathematical papers, political pamphlets, a theater ticket, a map, and other handwritten and printed material.

Biographical Note for Lambert family. : Pierre Antoine Lambert (d. 1827) was a native of Saint-Domingue, who later lived in Cuba on his coffee plantation, and then settled in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he owned a pharmacy, practiced medicine, and taught at the Collége d'Orléans. His son, Pierre Alexandre Lambert (1806-1895) was a prominent New Orleans doctor and administrator of Charity Hospital.
