Brief Description: The collection is made up of family papers (1674-1939), letters, copies of letters and documents, historical notes, and genealogical material of Marie Cruzat de Verges. Some of the families represented in the collection include the Hulse, Cruzat, and Innerarity families, as well as the East Florida trading firm of Panton, Leslie, Forbes & Company, with which the Inneraritys were associated. There are copies and extracts of correspondence between Louisiana Governor Miro and Joseph Pontalba, copies of letters of Miro and Valdez, and copies of letters of and relating to Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville and Bernarde de Marigny. There is also a group of articles, notes, and other information about the history of New Orleans and Louisiana.

Biographical Note for Cruzat family. : The Cruzat family is closely tied to the Hulse, and Innerarity families as well as many others, including the de Lino, Marigny, Broutin, Delrey, Daunoy, Dubois, Perez, Coulon de Villiers, and de Verges families. Marie Cruzat de Verges was the daughter of J.W. Cruzat and Heloise Hulse, the granddaughter of Isaac Hulse and the great-granddaughter of John Innerarity. The Innerarity family was associated with the East Florida trading firm Panton, Leslie, Forbes and Company.
