Brief Description: The collection consists of three bound manuscripts that document some of the activities of Doris Lurie Chesky, vocal music teacher at Alcee Fortier High School, New Orleans, during the middle of the twentieth century. There are letters regarding special personal sick leave, a proposed program about improving human relations for teachers and students, and a pageant written by Chesky.

Biographical Note for Chesky, Doris Annette Lurie, 1915-1989. : Doris Lurie Chesky was a teacher of vocal music at Alcee Fortier High School in New Orleans. She worked with both students and faculty at Fortier in human relations activities. In 1952 the Ford Foundation Fund for the Advancement of Education awarded her a grant for a year's study.
