Historical Note: Winston Lill (1927- ) is a New Orleans native who attended Millsaps College, University of Havana, and graduated from Tulane University in 1949. His began his career in advertising and sales with New Orleans Public Services (1950-1954) until he became assistant director and then director of Public Relations for the city of New Orleans (1954-1961). Lill was then special assistant to Ambassador deLesseps S. Morrison to the Organization of American States United States Department of State (1961-1963). After Morrison's death, Lill was executive vice president of W.R. Smolkin and Associates, marketing consultants (1964) until he became staff coordinator, New Orleans Committee for Economic Opportunity Action and executive director of Total Community Action (1965-1969). He served on the Mayor's citizen committee for Louis Armstrong Park (1971-1973), New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation (1972-1979), and represented Mayor Landrieu in citizen effort to secure World's Fair for Louisiana in 1984. He was staff director for the Louisiana World Exposition, Incorporated.
