Historical Note: Donald Blake Touchstone (1944-2001) was a Tulane student who wrote a term paper for a history class, "Voodoo in New Orleans." He created a bibliography for the paper on Voodoo in New Orleans from the Civil War period to 1900. Touchstone was later a part-time faculty member in the history department at Tulane University after receiving his doctorate in 1973. His thesis was entitled "Planters and slave religion in the Deep South."
