other small printed items going back to the very early 19th-century
and covering almost almost every aspect of Louisiana society and

As one of Louisiana's major cultural resources, Special
Collections is Tulane University's greatest link with the research

A research archives for studying the built environment of Louisiana, the
architectural
archives preserves primarily New Orleans architectural office
records from
1830 to the present. |
New Orleans' most comprehensive
research archives with documents from the colonial period
to the present. Strengths include the Civil War, Jewish studies,
women's studies, medicine, politics, Carnival, waterways,
literature, and more. |

| The Hogan Jazz Archive
preserves
oral histories, music, photographs, sheet music, clippings, sound
recordings, and
other materials about Jazz in America. It focuses primarily on the New
Orleans style. |
The
Tulane University Archives
preserves the official records of Tulane University. It includes administrative records, theses and dissertations,
catalogs, student publications, and images. |

Louisiana Collection |
Rare Books |

Possibly the finest library of pre-WWII Louisiana publications, the
Louisiana Collection preserves published materials about Louisiana from
the French explorations to the present. It also preserves extensive
vertical files, images, maps, and more. |
Rare Books has some 50,000 titles dating from a leaf of the Gutenberg
Bible (ca. 1456) to recent first editions. |
