Mayor Schiro and his wife shared a lifelong friendship with Jack B. McGuire, a young man who served as aide to the mayor and later head of public relations during the Schiro administration.

Mexican diplomat Carlos Hampe, Jack McGuire, Schiro, and Joseph Giarrusso in a Mexico City restaurant during a trade mission; March 15, 1969.

When McGuire was elected to the Mandeville City Council in 1984, he asked Schiro to swear him in.
